How much do lift chairs cost?
The usual starting price point of a lift chair is roughly $1,000, but can go upwards to $3500 or more. The price depends on the features of the lift chair. Two-position lift chairs are the least expensive option since they include the least amount of functionality. Three-position lift chairs are slightly more expensive since they have increased functionality. Infinite position lift chairs are the most expensive because they offer the most features and positions. The upholstery you select for your lift chair will also influence the price greatly. For example if you want to add Brisa fabric to your Golden Technologies lift chair you are looking at a $799 price increase. Specialty lift chairs such as extra-wide heavy-duty lift chairs are expensive than the average lift chair due to the added construction and material cost.
Will Medicare cover my lift chair?
The lift chair itself will not be covered by Medicare. They only cover the lifting mechanism. In order to be eligible you must have a neuromuscular disease or severe arthritis in your hips or knees. The lift chair must also be prescribed by your primary care doctor. The dollar amount that you would be reimbursed varies from state to state.
What is the difference between a 2 position, 3 position, and infinite position lift chair?
Two-position lift chairs recline from the upright seated position to the TV-watching position and anywhere in between those two. Three-position lift chairs recline further back to a full napping/resting position. Infinite-position lift chairs recline all the way back for sleeping and most recline to a full Trendelenburg position (feat above hear). Infinite position lifts chairs include separate controls so that the back rest and footrest can be operated independently. This mean you can be seated upright and still put your feet up. Can the hand controls be placed on the left-hand side?
