How to Disassemble a Mobility Scooter

How to Disassemble a Mobility Scooter

Disassembling mobility scooters are easy to use, great for saving space, and still offer the sturdiness and stability some users need. Most disassembling scooters break down in a matter of 3 or 4 easy steps. The removable parts are often lightweight and easy to handle making them great for transport or travel. Here are the simple steps that apply to disassembling most models:

Step 1: Remove the seat.
Step 2: Remove the battery.
Step 3: Remove the basket or other accessories.
Step 4: Disconnect the front and back sections.
Step 5: Fold Handle flat.
Step 6: Reassemble the scooter in the reverse order.

Start by powering off your mobility scooter. Next fold down or remove your seat. The seat may have a lever that allows you to remove it from it's post. Remove the battery, storage basket, and any other accessories. Disconnect the front and back sections of the scooter. Depending on the model of scooter you have, this can be done in different ways. Always reference your manual on how best to disassemble your particular device.

Once your mobility scooter is disassembled it will be far easier to transport and store. Each piece will be far lighter than the assembled scooter making it easier to move. The more compact pieces will also be easier to load into the trunk of your car or tuck away in a closet or even under a bed. These versatile type of scooters are a great option for those who lack a lot of storage space. Unlike lightweight folding scooters, disassembling scooters tend to be a bit more heavy-duty allowing them to traverse a wider variety of terrains. The stability and sturdiness also make them safer wherever you choose to use them.
